Rafting the Grand Canyon

Las Vegas is only four and a half hours from Los Angeles, or just over an hour if you fly, or just over four days if you walk continuously day and night without stopping to eat, sleep, or use the restroom.

As much as I love Southern California for how easy it is to get outside, it is severely lacking in the “access to rivers” department. I mean, they do rent kayaks on one section of the LA river, but if you’re looking for a proper river experience, you’ll have to get out of town.

In July, I took a seven-day guided trip down the big ditch with my parents. Seven days of waterfall hikes, frisbee on the beach, hot summer days, and a fourth of July dance party under the waning moon. Impossible to distill into a video, I know, but I tried anyway.
